Solstice on December 21 or 22

This year's December Solstice will be on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at 23:03 (11:03 pm) UTC. At this moment, the Sun will be directly overhead the Tropic of Capricorn in the Southern Hemisphere.

When is the Solstice in my local time?

In many Northern Hemisphere countries, this Solstice marks the beginning of winter, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it is considered as the start of summer.

2014 was a busy year at timeanddate.com. Here are some features we have added in the past year:

World Clock App for Android: You asked, we listened and made an Android version of our bestselling World Clock App.

Fresh, new City Information, Weather & Sun and Moon Pages: Our designers worked hard and gave all our City Information Pages a facelift. Now you can get the same reliable information about current time, DST changes, weather and sunrise, sunset, moonrise and moonset timings that we are well known for, in a less cluttered, easy-to-find, and eye pleasing format.

Browsing made easier: We didn't just stop at the City Information Pages, we went ahead and redesigned all our article pages making them easy-on-the-eye and fun to read on computers, mobiles and tablets. The mobile-friendly design makes it easy to browse our website.

Holidays: We have added holidays and calendars for several new countries this year.

We love to hear from you! Email us with your comments, suggestions, and ideas on how to improve our website at webmaster@timeanddate.com.
