Two NL Time Zones

The province of Newfoundland and Labrador observes two time zones: Newfoundland Time (NT) and Atlantic Time (AT).

Newfoundland Time Zone

Newfoundland Island, including the province capital St. John's, observe Newfoundland Standard Time (NST) during standard time and Newfoundland Daylight Time (NDT) during Daylight Saving Time (DST).

Labrador Time Zone

Most of Labrador, except the southeastern tip closest to Newfoundland Island, observes Atlantic Standard Time (AST) and Atlantic Daylight Time (ADT).

The Official Time Is NST

Even though the province follows two time zones, Newfoundland Standard Time is the official time zone per provincial law. Labrador still unofficially uses Atlantic Time along with the eastern part of mainland Canada.

Unlike most time zones, Newfoundland has a half-hour offset instead of the usual full-hour offset: UTC-3:30 during standard time and UTC-2:30 during summer time.
